Bowing
The act of bowing shows respect to the dojo, the instructors, and practice partners.
Bow toward the Tokonoma (front of the dojo) when entering and exiting the dojo.
Bow toward the Tokonoma when stepping on and off the mat.
Bow to your instructor and partner before and after each exercise.

Cleanliness
Take off your shoes upon entering the dojo and place them on the provided shelves.
Keep your uniform clean at all times.
No food, beverages, or chewing gum allowed in the matted area.

Respect
Treat everyone at the dojo as a friend.
Learn from others and lead others by your example.
Follow directions given by instructors and senior students.
Do not engage in idle talk or fooling around during class.
Be courteous and helpful to others at all times.
Be on time for class. If you are late, wait at the edge of the mat for the instructor to grant permission to join class.
Don’t lean against the wall while on the mat.

Safety
Keep finger and toe nails short and clean to prevent injury.
Stay off the mat until an instructor is present.
Report all injuries to an instructor.
Remove all jewelry, including watches.
When on the mat, sit in seiza or anza only. Do not sit with legs extended.
Inform the instructor if you need to leave the mat.
Do not engage in Randori without instructor supervision.
Do not substitute strength for skill, strength will come when skill is mastered.
